With a modest beginning of introducing four year BE degree course in 1961,<\/p>\n<p><strong>1970-71<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A post graduate programme in Electrical Machine \/ Power System \/ Control System was introduced..<\/p>\n<p><strong>1976-77<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Considering the under- graduate education as a vital and important component of its activities, the department started a BE degree programme in Computer Science for the first time in the country which was later followed by other Colleges \/ Institutes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1982-83<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Envisioning the growth of Electronics and the consequent technical man power requirement, a BE (Electronics) course was introduced. .<\/p>\n<p><strong>1986<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the three under graduate programmes, a Master\u2019s Course in Computer Application (MCA)\u00a0 and several M. Tech. programmes (regular and part time) were introduced.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1996<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Department of Electrical Engineering Department was split into three full fledged departments viz. Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Electronics &amp; Communication Engineering and the Department of Computer Science &amp; Engineering<\/strong> in order to have better management and development of respective disciplines.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Current <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Department offers courses leading to a Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering and Post Graduate (M. Tech.) programs in (i) Power Electronics and Drives (ii) Control &amp; Instrumentation and iii) Power System, along with part-time Master of Technology course in these disciplines.<\/li>\n<li>The Department also offers Ph.D. programmes in these areas.<\/li>\n<li>The Department has qualified and experienced faculty in all the related fields of Electrical Engineering viz.
